Ashok Leyland sales down 69.33% for April






Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland today said its sales for the month of April declined 69.33 per cent to 1,750 units as compared to 5,705 units sold in the corresponding period last year.





Domestic sales for the month stood at 1,615 units against 5,549 units in corresponding month last year, down by 70.90 per cent, the company said in a statement.

Exports during the month also fell by 13.46 per cent to 135 units from 156 units in the same period last year, it added. The company reported a decline of about 72.40 per cent in total domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles at 1,591 units compared to 5,503 units in the same month last year.

Domestic light commercial vehicle sales fell by 47.83 per cent to 24 units in April from 46 units in the corresponding period last year, while exports of LCVs for the month of April 2009 was zero compared to seven units in the same period last year.
