Mahindra Quanto : Mini Xylo Price India

Mahindra has confirmed that it will launch Quanto, which bloggers reported as "Mini Xylo" in india on 20th September, 2012. A compact MUV, multi-utility-vehicle, Mahindra Quanto will fall in sub 4 meter category, to save tax which government takes on cars longer than 4 meter. So it would be price relatively low.

Mahindra Quanto would come with 1.5 litre diesel engine, borrowed from Mahindra Renault Logan. Or may be Mahindra would have its own 3 cylinder, 1 or 1.2 litre engine which would be capable of producing 100bhp of power.

Honda has decided to stop Honda Accord in India. This is second bad news after the discontinuation of Honda Civic in India. The only reason why Honda wants to discontinue its premium cars is the lack of diesel engine in India. Its not like Honda has no diesel engine, it runs diesel engine globally, but those diesel engines are not compatible with poor quality diesel in India.

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch CNG version of Maruti Suzuki Alto in India. Increasing petrol price has made very bad impact on small car sales. People are going for alternatives, buying diesel cars in higher segment or choosing other CNG / LPG version of same car. Maruti Suzuki Alto has seen a big drop in sales, comparing 24k units in july, 2011 to 18k units in july, 2012. [approx figures]

Tata launched a car for indian people, for those who want a small car, in really small budget. The only problem with this car was there's only petrol version is available. A big problem! Petrol prices are increasing in India and no one wants to buy petrol car anymore! Be it Tata Nano, or be it Mercedes! Tata Nano's monthly sales has dropped to 6000 units per month which is way below to the expected target 20,000. So, Tata has decided to gift a new small car to india, and what is better then the diesel version of existing Tata Nano ?!
